Midnight, Texas (Season 2) selects

CG supervisor. Developed the smoke look for the waist down simulations along with the swallowing and regurgitation smoke simulation look.

THE BRIEF

Details option

This show we heavily leaned on FumeFX to create help create the look of the ghost possessing individuals by being sucked into the mouth, eyes, nostrils and ears of people as well as regurgitating them back up. The FumeFX simulations were originally to replicate the 1st season episode created by another studio before we were unleashed to do our own style.

Details option 2

The smoke simulations were created with a series of spline paths and animated drivers and meshes to distort the sims and matchmoved characters to follow the actors. Each smoke consisted of two different styles totaling 10 simulations per smoke ingestion. All ghosts also had their own unique smoke bottoms and method of disappearing. At times, some scenes consisted of over 14 smoke simulations to complete the looks. All told, there were several hundred smoke simulations created by our NYC team.
