| BACKGROUND |

Timberland is known for durable boots and this spot is their attempt to further that depicting the strength of their Pro Boots. The boot goes through strenuous work and activities on a construction site lifting heavy cinderblocks and hauling metal beams. This one tough boot!

The commercial was to have a stop-motion style to it. However the animation was created as normal, but when it was comped together in After Effects every 2nd (or 3rd) frame was dropped to give the stop-motion look.

I created the boot modeling it in ZBrush compromised of several separate parts with normal and displacement maps that I then rigged together to animate. The shoelaces were spline rig controlled to act as arms. I textured and rigged up the chains as well using the same idea of a spline controlled rig as well as world Link Constraints.
